Day 104: Inspections and Driveway

Today the city and Greenzone, a third party inspector, were supposed to inspect the insulation and house for energy efficiency.  I haven't heard how they went yet. I should hear from Raymond tomorrow though.

Also today, our driveway and sidewalks were graded and framed out. Sorry the pictures are at night. Today was a long busy day. I enjoy coming by, even if it's late at night.

Insulation

Today the house got its exterior insullation. It was exciting to see because we've seen empty space for weeks and this brings us one step away from sheetrock. The girls thought it looked like cotton candy.

I also picked up a copy of an inspection that was done last week on the frame. And it failed. :( 

I'm sort of upset about having 8 things go wrong. Some are minor, things needing redone or done better. Others were major-- truss issues. I immediately called Raymond who advised me that the issues were addressed and the frame was reinspected with a passing grade. Next time I see him, he's going to point out these issues so I can be aware and see the fixes.

Day 83: First Window

Day 81: First Peek Inside

Today was the first day we actually went inside to take a peek. It was an amazing feeling to walk into my home for the first time. My kids were ecstatic. I will say that the slab looked small compared to how large the house feels inside now. We had such a good time looking in each room and seeing all that had been done this far. It's truly amazing how quickly they get it put up. I suppose the pre-made pieces help quite a bit.

She's Up!

This evening we went to see the progress of the framing and could hardly contain our squeals of delight when we could see our house for the first time as we drove thru the neighborhood. She's up!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

She has a bottom level, stairs, a second level with subflooring, window spaces, doorways, the half wall, all exterior walls, porch covers and I'm sure more that I couldn't see from just driving by.

Crews were still working so we didn't hop out to go peek but we will tomorrow for sure!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 





 

Day 79: Slab Picnic Play Day

Today is the last day that the slab will look like this.  Framing begins tomorrow. With the weather as beautiful as it is expected to be, I'm sure the crew will try to move fast in getting as much done as they can before it's cold and/or rainy again. 

To celebrate, we decided to pick up breakfast and eat it picnic style on the slab. This is our one and only chance so we're going to take advantage.  We even brought some chalk to leave the crew a thank you note.

From this day forward, we'll be seeing daily changes, watching all of the pieces that go into building a house, and celebrating each one as they come into fruition. This part is going to be amazingly fun!

As per Jose, the house should be done in about 2.5 months.  That will be around the 20th of March. I'm sure rain days and such could delay that though. I really don't care when it happens. I'm going to enjoy the ride til then.

In news of my mortgage, KB Home and NationStar joined up to create a new mortgage company which will be servicing mine. The new company is called Home Community Mortgage.  It won't be too much longer and I'll be able to lock in an interest rate. Hoping they go down a little so I can get a super low rate.

Day 77: End of Week 11

We played on the slab after seeing the wonderful surprise of wood! What a wonderful way to end the week.
