Day 149: Looking Good

The house is looking really good on the outside. I have a couple of things to bring up to Raymond, but overall it's coming along nicely.

Here's our first pic with the garage door painted.

Day 148: Beginning of Week 22

Today we stopped by and the house was all locked up, like yesterday, so I called Chance and he happened to be in the neighborhood. He popped over and opened the house for me so we could take a peek.

While we were waiting, we met our new neighbors, the ones who are building right next to us in this picture. We got to meet one half of them anyway, the mom and one 11-year old daughter. We chatted while the kids immediately tore off, playing and getting to know one another. Looks like that will be someone fun for the girls to play with.

Day 147: Two Weeks Til Closing!

Today marks the end of Week 21. Two weeks from today I close! Woohoo! It's finally down to that time where Im starting to feel a little nervous. The house is 98% done and the excitement is growing. I absolutely cannot wait to get the keys and take my kids HOME!

I've started shopping for a few key items I'll need to purchase right away--a refrigerator, washer and dryer and wood blinds. Oy! Thankfully I have a great source for Whirlpool appliances and have found another source for the wood blinds. Now, I've got to measure all 25 of those windows.

Day 146: Trees!

Oh! The trees were planted today. They're Magnolias! They are absolutely gorgeous!  I couldn't be more pleased. Also the shutters were added, the front was painted--columns, trim and garage door. It's looking really good.

The rest of the house is looking gorgeous. There is still places that need paint touch ups but for the most part, it looks incredible. Two weeks from tomorrow I close!!!

Inside, the railings have been stained yet I'm not sure if they're done or not? The trim is still primed, waiting for painting. When I took a picture of the railing tonight, I sent it in text to my mom. She pointed out the cross appearing in the sun spot on the railing. A blessing for sure!

In the kitchen, the little trim was added to the cabinets. They look nice, finished. I can't wait until the countertops and backsplash go on.

Day 144: Prepping The Railings

Today the guys who installed the railings were back, prepping them for staining which they advised would start tomorrow. So, not to be in their way, we opted to just look quickly. The one thing I noticed was that caulking in the bathrooms was getting done, too.

Can I just say how much I love this house?!

Day 142: Hi House

Nothing new to show today since the house is still locked up. Obviously by now you know we come by regardless and to say "Hi house!"

Day 135: The Fence and Other Things

Today some workers were at the house spraying on some wall texture in touch-up places so we didn't stay long. I mostly wanted to see the fence during daylight. However due to the rain, the yard was a muddy mess so we couldn't walk out to see it up close. It looks good though.

I also took some pictures of a few things I hadn't done such as the water heater and breaker box.
I'm starting to get really excited about the house. All of these months of waiting and watching are about to end and the house will be all ours! We can't wait to live here!

Day 129: Patio Railing

Today we discovered that our back patio railing had been installed. It sure accents how large of a patio we have! The only bad thing was that they installed it wrong, damaging the siding. Grr!

Day 128: Granite

So it appears I'm unsettled with the granite. At first when I saw it, I was surprised because it was not how I had envisioned or designed. I had my heart set on the sample that I had picked out and ordered at the design studio, and the colors it entailed. I picked out other things based on my kitchen centerpiece--the granite. I chose espresso cabinets to match the chocolate sparkles that Delicatus is known for. I liked the contrast between dark cabinets and white countertops. I chose a sleek, pure white back splash to go with it as well.
And after lamenting, pouring over pictures, going to see it in person more than once this past weekend, and doing a lot of research, I know this is *not* Delicatus.

I am convinced this granite is Arctic Cream. I can find plenty of pictures of that and it all looks like what I have installed. It features a beige-ish, latte-colored background with dramatic, striking black lines. It's not white at all.

I have found no other pictures anywhere--not on granite websites, not on blogs, not on home building websites, not on pinterest or Houzz, not even on Summit Stoneworks' website (the granite company who installed this) -- not once have I found a picture of Delicatus that looks like this.
Im definitely going to have to talk to Raymond and Jennifer about this.

Day 126: Brickwork is Almost Done!

The house is almost done getting her brickwork. This is sure a messy process! Isn't she looking grand?

Day 117: Cabinets!

Oh! The girls and I literally ran from the truck when we pulled up tonight, seeing the garage was empty. That could only mean one thing: cabinets are in!

Stepping inside, we saw doors hung and woodwork including windowsills, baseboards and other trimwork. We discovered shelves in the closets.

And cabinets! Oh my! They're gorgeous!

When we rounded the corner into the kitchen, we all got so excited. We squealed for about a minute straight. LOL!

Day 113: Beginning of Week 17

Today I took some pictures from different perspectives, like this first one. Another house is about to begin being built next to me, so if I want to ever have a picture from this side view, I better grab it now.

This is the pad where the A/C will sit. It will have a slight berm built around it beneath it.

Back porch stairs. Railings to be installed later.

Driveway--our handprints were covered over. Grr. :(

Looking out of my office at the dining room, stairs and closet. Archway leading to living and kitchen areas.

Daughter enjoying her view.

Playing hide-and-seek with my kids. Surprised daughter when she found me.

Taken from the stairs. This is the dining room with my office to the right and the living room on the other side of the low wall.

Entry (from stairs)

My office French doors.
